ONE Esports and PGL present the first Major tournament for the 2021 DPC
In collaboration with esports organizer PGL, ONE Esports is proud to present the ONE Esports Dota 2 Singapore Major which will be held in March 2021. This event is the first Major tournament of the 2021 Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) series.
The ONE Esports Dota 2 Singapore Major will be held from March 27 to April 4, 2021 in partnership with PGL and the Singapore Tourism Board (STB).
The ONE Esports Dota 2 Singapore Major tournament will be held offline. In addition, the event will also be broadcasted to fans around the world via live streaming with 4K resolution at 60 fps.
ONE Esports gets this opportunity after being unable to host the last Major tournament in the 2019-2020 DPC which was canceled due to the pandemic, along with several other major and minor tournaments.
"They say that good things come to those who wait. ONE Esports and our partners PGL and STB are proud to announce the ONE Esports Dota 2 Singapore Major presented by PGL," said ONE Esports CEO Carlos Alimurung.
"We are excited to host a world-class competition with the best Dota 2 teams in the world with US$500,000 in prize money and make Singapore the esports capital of the world," he said.
Similarly, PGL CEO Silviu Stroie said he was proud to be organizing this tournament with ONE Esports, having previously been involved in other major Dota 2 tournaments, such as the ONE Esports Dota 2 Singapore Invitational 2019.
"We are very happy to be back in Singapore to organize another big tournament after the Dota 2 Singapore Invitational 2019. PGL is proud to present the first Major tournament of the winter season for DPC 21, which will be held in one of the safest places, Singapore," said Silviu Stroie.
"After hosting the Manila Major and Kuala Lumpur Major, we will now be hosting another memorable tournament in the Southeast Asia region. We are very committed to the region and we are more than happy to come back and organize big events in SEA and Dota 2, again and again," he said.
As one of the major esports organizers in the world, PGL certainly understands how big and important Major tournaments are for teams and fans. Moreover, this is the first major tournament in the 2021 DPC and it has been missing due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the past year.
Aside from ONE Esports and PGL, Jean Ng, Executive Director, Attraction, Entertainment and Tourism Concept Development for the Singapore Tourism Board, is also proud of this opportunity. He is proud to have this opportunity and is ready to ensure the safety and comfort of all the teams that will be competing.
"We are very proud to host the first Major tournament of the 2021 DPC and are ready to welcome all teams that qualify for the Singapore Major with a sense of security," said Jean Ng.
"The return of a major esports tournament is a true testament to Singapore as a leading tourist and business destination, as we are gradually able to resume activities, in line with the public health situation and travel policies in place," he said.
